Recovering an Email message

Recovering a message using the PTSMail Utilities is as simple as knowing the message id and the mailbox to append it to. The mailbox DOES NOT have to be the originally intended destination mailbox. Any message processed by ptsfilter can be recovered. The message does not have to be a blocked email.

In order to be able to recover (also known as rescue or retrieve) a message you will need the Web Configurator installed. You will also need the following entries in the ptsfilter.conf file:

  • mailbox_location One of the following:
  • write_message_dir
  • write_message_record

Users can rescue their own email using the ptsuser.cgi software.
